Shakuntala Suryavanshi

Referred to as Shaku Bhabi by her Devrani Veena, and Malkin by her faithful servant Vasudev, Shakuntala Suryavanshi is the head of the Suryavanshi Haveli. She is the wife of the late Shailendra Suryavashi who passed away years back. Shakuntala has three children – Nitesh, Nakul and the youngest – Netra. She is known throughout Rajkot for the power she wields over many authoritative figures including the SSP Kuran Desai.

Her biggest fear is that the truth about her corrupt ways will be brought before her children and she does everything in her power to prevent this from happening.

Veena Suryavanshi

Devrani to Shakuntala, Veena was married to Shailendra’s younger half-brother Bhalchandra who is also no more. She has no children of her own but treats her two nephews and niece as though they were her own flesh and blood. Veena is closest to Nakul and she is Shakuntala’s shadow, friend and confidant.

Veena manages to keep Shakuntala from breaking at pivotal points but sometimes finds herself on equally shaky ground with no support of her own.

Vasudev

He is the Haveli’s faithful servant and finds himself tied to the Suryavanshi Family in many unorthodox ways. Vasudev is a thug and heads a circle of gangsters who carry out Shakuntala’s bidding, although most of his orders come directly from Veena whom he has a strange respect for.

Pratiksha Devi

She is mother-in-law to Shakuntala & Veena and despises both of them with a vengeance. She blames her Bahus for things that have taken place in the past and is on a mission to regain sole power of the Haveli. Her affections reach out to no one, although she can be very unpredictable.

Nitesh Suryavanshi

Shakuntala and Shailendra’s oldest son; he is in his late twenties and is married. He heads the family business and spends most of his time at work. The relationship between him and his wife difficult to fathom, but Nitesh believes in solving his own problems so he doesn’t let anyone else get involved in his marital affairs.

Kalyani Suryavanshi

She is Nitesh’s wife. Kalyani respects no one but herself and she sees no reason to change either. Her greatest fear is that Shakuntala’s love for Netra will cause her husband and herself the Suryavanshi Fortune and she is willing to go to whatever lengths she needs to in order to ensure this does not happen.

Nakul Suryavanshi

Nakul is the charmer of the family. He shares a close relationship with his Veena Kaki and is always full of life and energy. He despises studying, much to the dismay of his family but he pacifies them with his wit and charisma and manages to always get himself out of sticky situations.

Netra Suryavanshi

The youngest of the siblings, Netra is the apple of everyone’s eye. She’s spent most of her life in New York and is now returning to Rajkot with the hopes of being reunited with her family and starting a new life there. Unfortunately, Netra is unaware that her return has set in motion a chain of events that will be the beginning of a disastrous ride for more than herself.

Magan Bhai

He is a servant of the Haveli who has been around since Shailendra and Bhalchandra were teenagers. He loves each and every member of the family regardless of their relationships with each other. He has aligned himself to no one and minds his business at all times.

Vinodh Patel

A journalist who was writing an expose on Shakuntala and all her misdeeds. He was supported by Pratiksha Devi but unknown to her, Shakuntala and Veena find out about his work in progress and plan his demise. He shoots himself in the head after Vasudev threatens to kill his family.

SSP Kuran Desai

The Superintendent of Police is a corrupt man whose will is easily bendable, especially by the whims and charms of Shakuntala Suryavanshi. However, his flexibility comes with a price, one he’s not ashamed to claim every time a favor must be done.

Rakesh Grover

A drug dealer who is also a close friend to Veena Suryavanshi.

Shailendra Suryavanshi

He is man who believes in compassion and caring but he also knows to fight for what is his.

Bhalchandra Suryavanshi

He is unable to keep up with his half-brother and is hardly able to think for himself. His life is ruled by his mother.

Dixita Suryavanshi

She is a girl Nakul meets in a restaurant who then becomes his girlfriend and later, his wife. Dixita is unaware that her husband had an affair with her best friend and got her pregnant and that she is now dead.

Pavan Sachdeva

Netra’s drug peddling friend with benefits from New York.

Ramya Bansali

She was Dixita’s best friend who began having an affair with Nakul until she became pregnant with his child. Nakul’s order to have the child aborted was what made her realize that he had no feelings for her. Ramya died during the abortion and the truth about her whereabout are known only to Veena and Vasudev. The doctor who performed the procedure is also aware of Ramya’s death and so is Pratiksha Devi.

Devin Kumar

Nakul’s friend from college who introduces him to Doctor Varma and arranges Ramya’s abortion.

Doctor Varma

The doctor who is brought in to abort Nakul and Ramya’s child.

Rajveer Shastri

He is the suitor brought in to marry Netra. He is a very nice young man who believes the world is a nice place and all its people are lovely creatures. He falls in love with Netra from the moment he sets eyes on her.

Lalita Shastri

She is Rajveer’s mother and wife to MP Hemat Lal Shastri, who has a scandalous past with Shakuntala Suryavanshi. Lalita Devi us unaware of this history and prepares to make Netra her Bahu.
